Can you imagine a patient telling you how to do your job correctly? 😬
Acubiller has billed for veterans for over a decade. It is our business to understand how to file claims when the VA is involved. Since we began, the VA has changed their filing procedures and claims processing entity several times.
Over the years, we've confirmed (yes -- CONFIRMED) that the patient's full social security number is the only valid ID for a VA patient. Only the SSN remains valid when the VA inevitably switches to a new claims processor.
Patients are not billing experts
Your patients might think they know more about billing the VA than we do. (Patients have questioned our expertise every single year we've been in business!)
They'll say things like, "The VA said I only need the last 4 digits of my SSN" or "use the member ID provided on the authorization form". We've heard it all before. They're wrong.
If we humor them, it creates extra work for us -- and it also lowers your chances of payout. Where's the incentive? We want you to get paid!
"But VA Community Care Said..."
Respectfully, VA Community Care is wrong when they tell your patient that you can use the Member ICN or the last 4 digits of the SSN.
VA claims are processed by multiple entities, and the only ID number that remains consistent across ALL of those entities is the patient's full SSN. Unfortunately, VA Community Care doesn't know that.
Our Data-Driven Strategic Approach
Acubiller is a data-driven business, informed by over a decade of success in insurance billing. Our quality assurance (QA) program is baked into our methods.
In other words, the quality of our service depends on conformity with our methods. When FUP is required for VA claims, it often takes 5-6 hours at best. That's a lot of lost time for our team! Our VA billing strategy minimizes the time lost on VA FUP.
Patients may be uncomfortable providing their full SSN, or find our approach inconvenient, but we cannot allow these concerns to dictate our workflows or strategies. You are the patient's advocate; we are your advocate, and we're here to get you paid.
